One of our favorite activities on our travels to Mykonos was walking through the narrow streets of Chora. The main town of Mykonos, also known as Chora, is a true paradise for photographers but not only. In this regard, if you are looking for the 10 best Instagram spots in Mykonos don’t miss this article. Mykonos Town is full of white houses, blue doors and windows and so pretty bougainvilleas. Thus, every corner of it is beautiful and you will want to keep getting lost in its winding alleys all day long.

Day cruise to Delos

The excavations on the island of Delos have been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. To reach this archaeological site you need to take one of the many ships that depart daily from Mykonos old harbor. Considered one of the most important Archaeological Sites in Greece, Delos is definitely one of the things to see in Mykonos. On the Delos site, there is a lot to discover, like the Terrace of the Lions, the Doric Temple of the Delians, the Minoan Fountain and the Theater Quarter. Visitors can explore a plethora of preserved buildings that are home to stunning mosaics, sculptures and monuments.

Windmills

The white windmills are one of the most famous landmarks of the island. There are sixteen windmills scattered around Mykonos and you can find five of them standing in a row near Little Venice. Most of the windmills were built in the 16th century by the Venetians which contributed to wheat production. Nowadays up the hill in Chora, you will find some windmills in good condition including the Boni windmill which house a museum. Also, the whole area around the windmills is one of the best places to watch the sunset.

Mykonos Town is considered a shopper’s paradise. Among the narrow streets, you will find a lot of stores with a big variety of products and the latest fashionable clothes. In fact, it’s no surprise that many famous designers have their own store in Mykonos. You will find some of the best shops around Matoyianni Square, Kalogera Street and near Agia Varvara church. Also, there are many galleries where you can find classic or modern pieces of paintings, sculptures and decorative items. For jewelry lovers, Mykonos Town boasts some shops of the world-famous Greek jewelers.

Negrita

If you are looking for a place to sip a cocktail at sunset, a few meters from the sea in Little Venice, don’t miss Negrita! It’s very nice to spend a few moments sitting, on the narrow cobblestone pavement which separates the bar from the water, sipping your favorite cocktail. At Negrita, you will find a long list of cocktails and a good music selection. We tasted their “Negrita” and we can highly recommend it, you can’t go wrong!

Church of Panagia Paraportiani

The church of Panagia Paraportiani is one of the oldest and most beautiful churches on the island. Due to its totally whitewashed walls contrasting with the blue sky, this church is a must-see attraction. Furthermore, Panagia Paraportiani is a perfect photo spot for your Mykonos photo album. It’s not difficult to find this church north of Little Venice while you are discovering Mykonos Town.

Alefkantra, also known as Little Venice, is one of the most fascinating places in Mykonos. This neighborhood with its colorful houses on the sea takes its name for its resemblance to Venice. Head to the Little Venice neighborhood of Mykonos Town where you will find a large number of quirky bars overlooking the sea. In addition, the parties in Mykonos extend to the beaches and the most important clubs of the island such as Cavo Paradiso and Tropicana Beach Bar. Mykonos is the top destination for active and crazy nightlife in all of Greece.

Not only nightlife in Mykonos, in fact, the island is also famous for its golden beaches and crystal clear water. In Mykonos, you will find different types of beaches with different services and features for all types of travelers. If you are looking for pure fun, dance music until the evening, then Paradise Beach and Super Paradise Beach is for you. Instead, if you want a family-friendly beach, you can head to Elia, Kalo Livadi, and Ornos. Elia is one of our favorite and best-equipped beaches with all the services and luxury hotels nearby. Also, another beach we love is Psarou. This beach is one of the most popular with celebrities and rich people and here you will find the famous Nammos beach bar. Finally, if you are looking for a secluded beach, then you can go to Agios Sostis or Kapari.

Ice cream at Kayak

Are you looking for a refreshing ice cream break while strolling through the alleys of Mykonos Town? Stop and taste the Kayak ice cream and you won’t regret it. We tried the “black lava” taste which intrigued us and it was really good. Also, we found the Kayak ice cream shop in other destinations in Greece such as Paros.
